Independent NDIS support worker calculator
Work out the rate your business actually needs.
Start with your target income, realistic billable hours, super contribution, annual business costs and a safety buffer.
This does not calculate income tax or give financial, employment or NDIS advice.
The useful comparison
Your invoice rate is not the same as your wage.
An independent provider's rate may need to cover super, insurance, vehicle and equipment costs, software, accounting, unpaid administration, cancellations, leave and quiet weeks. This calculator makes those assumptions visible.
Required annual revenue equals target personal income plus the chosen super contribution and annual business costs, increased by the selected buffer. Required hourly rate equals that revenue divided by annual billable hours.
Frequently asked questions
Does the calculator include tax?
No. The target income is before personal income tax. Tax circumstances and deductions differ, so confirm them with a registered tax professional.
Why use billable hours instead of total working hours?
Administration, travel, quoting, scheduling and record keeping may take time without creating a billable support hour. Using only realistic billable hours avoids spreading costs across hours you cannot invoice.
Can I charge the calculated rate?
The result shows what your assumptions require, not what you are permitted to charge. Your rate still needs to reflect the agreement, applicable price limits and your circumstances.
